SIN-HKT (Singapore Airlines B737-8 MAX Economy Class)
An uneventful flight, with a very comfortable Economy Class seat for the short flight. The food isn’t as bad as described too! (delicious in fact).

Boarding
My flight boarding gate was at Terminal 3, and as you can seen from the picture above, the visitors were gradually returning back to almost pre-normal levels, compared to my last visit at March 2022.
Since I was on an economy class flight, I arrived with just enough time to go through automated check-in and reach the gate directly.
Seat
As mentioned, Singapore Airlines assigned their newest B737-MAX planes for the regional flights at that point of time. I was glad that I tried it, as it was later downgraded to the much older (and inferior) Boeing 737-800 model, which were previously ex-SilkAir and lacks basic features like WIFI and built-in In-Flight Entertainment. More importantly, the seats were manufactured by Collins, which it’s Collins Aerospace seats in my opinion are more comfortable than the Recaro version.
I did not take any pictures, hence pictures of the seats from Mainlymiles:
Food
There was a hot debate about the food quality when Singapore Airlines converted their Economy Class food packaging to those with recyclable material, mainly bringing up issues like the food varieties (“how can store laksa in these paper boxes lah?”), food quantity (it looked smaller than the previous version) and even its quality.
In my opinion, there were no such issues, as to me the food quantity was really filling (especially when you add in Udders ice cream) and more importantly, the food quality was still great! As you can see below. I remember that braised noodles were not their forte, but this one was surprisingly delicious to me.
Overall, I had a great experience with the Economy Class food, definitely not in my “Worst Airline Foods” category!
To top it up, I had fanstastic views of Phuket from my window seat:
Wifi and In-Flight Entertainment
Did not try out due to the ultra-short flight. The window views were the main entertainment! But a note that there was Live TV in the IFE.
Service
The food service was great and prompt, important in such a short flight. The whole process, including clean-up, was completed about 40 minutes before landing. Good job!
Conclusion
A great flight in Singapore Airlines Economy Class to Phuket, and I would not hesitate to travel with them again, maybe even redeem a Saver flight during their Spontaneous Escapes promotion! Usual damage is 13,500 Krisflyer Miles for a saver rate, with up to 30% off during the Spontaneous Escapes promotion.
Having about 2 hours transit time in Phuket Airport, the adventure officially started from here onwards! 2 legs of Qatar Airways, with one on a really aspirational Business Class product.
